The Ricci Exhibition Opened in Macao, Fourth Stage of China's Tour

An Encounter of Civilitations in Ming China" which has seen growing success with critics and audiences (nearly 400,000 visitors) arrives from August 7 to Macao, a city-state which faces the South China Sea, in the prestigious Macau Museum of Art At the ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by the President of the Marche Region Giammario Spacca, the curator Filippo Mignini and Italian and Chinese authorities. The date of opening of the exhibition, August 7, overlaps significantly with that when, in 1582, Father Ricci arrived in Macao. For the occasion a bronze statue of the Jesuit from Macerata was inaugurated in the morning, to commemorate the fourth anniversary of his passing in Macao. It is located in a place adjacent to the Center for Tourist and Cultural Activities "in Macau. The exhibition in Macau named "The Master on the West" has been organized by the Marche Region and the Committee for the celebrations of Father Matteo Ricci. It is added to the program already implemented for the request of the Macao authorities who wanted this to pay homage to the figure of the Jesuit Ricci in the fourth centenary of the death.
