"Matteo Ricci. Universal Icon". In Macerata Gian Mario Spacca Head of the Regional Council opens the final events of the year dedicated to Father Matteo Ricci

Tomorrow in Macerata, Gian Mario Spacca, Head of the Regional Council together with the local authorities, will open the final events of theYear of Matteo Ricci entitled "Matteo Ricci. A Universal Icon", planned by the Committee for the IV Centenary Celebrations.

At 16.30. at Palazzo Buonaccorsi, the Head of the Regional Council will cut the tape to officially open the Historical Documentary Exhibition, "Matteo Ricci. Model of Humanity". The exhibition, curated by Professor Filippo Mignini of the Matteo Ricci Institute for Relations with the East, reconstructs and recounts the history of Ricci from his death until the present day by means of objects and multi-media tools. Particular emphasis is placed on the contribution given by Macerata starting from the third centenary and looking ahead to the future with the plan to have a permanent exhibition in the town. This event completes the important series of exhibitions which opened in Rome at the Vatican and was then followed by travelling exhibitions in China.

In the morning, at 10.30 the Philatelic Exhibition "Matteo Ricci S.J. in the World" will open in the Mirionima Gallery in Piazza della Libertà. It is curated by both the Philatelic and Numismatic Union of Macerata and the post office and will display the pictorial postmark commemorating the IV Centenary of the death of Father Matteo Ricci.
